Dave and Rhonda StineWhen introduced to Teambuilders, Dave was working for a large, well known, high-tech corporation. Rhonda was an elementary school teacher. Dave was also coaching high school varsity football and wrestling. Dave worked for the corporation for twenty-five years, the majority of those years as an Engineering Manager. He was downsized in March of 2003 when many operations were moved off-shore. Rhonda had taught sixth grade for fourteen years and moved to third grade beginning with the 2004 school year.
"I was becoming disenchanted with the corporate world and all of its games and politics. I was feeling stuck and was discouraged that even though Rhonda and I had very good incomes, we just couldn't ever seem to get ahead financially. I had become aware of the direction that the company was headed and saw a dead end future there. We were looking for a solution. We both grew up in family owned retail businesses and knew that wasn't what we were looking for. I talked to a friend who owned three franchises and I was discouraged with the possibilities of buying a franchise because of the risk involved. We knew that the Internet was going to be the future of business, but didn't know where to start," said Dave. Their son-in-law had heard many of their conversations at the dinner table. He was taking business courses at the local Junior College and was given an assignment that required him to interview a professional and write a paper about that particular profession. He contacted a CPA that his mother had worked for and asked to interview him. One night he came home and told Dave about this CPA (Bruce Bond), who was in his mid-forties, that he had interviewed that was financially free. Dave was looking so he asked his son-in-law to get Bruce on the phone because he wanted to find out how Bruce got financially free in his forties. Dave invited Bruce and Louisa to their home to look at the business plan. "We were impressed with the integrity of the plan and the business support team (Teambuilder's). We made the decision to get started and we've never regretted it. We have had our struggles but stuck close to the "Team" and stayed plugged into the educational/development system which paid off when I was downsized in March of 2003. I had my twenty-five year award luncheon on a Friday afternoon, being recognized by my managers as a strong, visionary leader that had made many contributions to the success of the department and the company. The following Monday afternoon I was called into a conference room where the same two managers handed me a severance package and told me that my job had gone to Malaysia. I was able to smile and say "I'm moving on to better things". Eighteen months later we achieved "Founder's Platinum" and are continuing to build a strong team with the support of Teambuilder's," said Dave. Dave and Rhonda have five children and eleven grandchildren. Their goal is to get Rhonda free and to spend quality time together, and with their grandchildren. |
